#SpinelessGOP: Vulnerable Senators Heller and Flake Duck and Hide

Feb 21, 2017

Heads Buried in the Sand, Flake and Heller Dodge Town Halls

As voters across the country demand public meetings with Republican elected officials, two of the GOP’s most vulnerable Senators, Dean Heller and Jeff Flake, have buried their heads in the sand in hopes that their constituents won’t catch on to Donald Trump and the GOP’s dangerous agenda.

In recent weeks, Heller’s office has been flooded with phone calls from angry constituents, while Flake claims that he’s been “too busy” in Washington to schedule a town hall with voters.

Well, the two Senators are on recess now, and yet both have failed to schedule a single public town hall. It’s time for them to do their jobs.

Statement by American Bridge President Jessica Mackler:

“Americans have tough questions for their elected representatives, from the GOP’s plan to strip 32 million Americans of their health care to Donald Trump’s racist Muslim Ban. Senators Dean Heller and Jeff Flake know they’re in danger in 2018, and they know they have no good answers for their constituents — that’s why they’re nowhere to be found. Frankly, the lengths spineless Republicans, like Heller and Flake, are willing go to hide from their constituents is embarrassing. It’s time to come out of hiding and do your jobs, Senators.”
