Today, on Bloomberg TV, American Bridge 21st Century Co-Chair and former Labor Secretary Tom Perez discussed the newly released jobs report that has shown that the job market is booming. The February jobs report showed that the unemployment rate dropped below 4% to 3.8% and that 678,000 jobs were created in February. Speaking about the pace of the economic recovery, Secretary Perez praised President Biden’s two signature pieces of legislation saying: “this recovery, because of the American Rescue Plan and because of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill has enabled people to get back on their feet fast.”
In the last 12 months, President Biden has created a record seven million jobs, and his administration remains focused on lowering costs for working families so that every American can share in the benefits of a grown economy. Meanwhile, Republicans have no plan to help cut costs for middle-class families. In fact, NRSC Chair Senator Rick Scott recently laid out a plan that would raise taxes on American families. They are also opposing Democratic proposals to lower such costs, because they admit they see inflation as a “goldmine” that can help them politically.
