Ahead of Rep. Mick Mulvaney’s nomination hearings before the Senate Budget Committee and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee today, American Bridge President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Mick Mulvaney is a right-wing extremist who isn’t sure whether the government should fund scientific research and pals around with conspiracy theorists at John Birch Society meetings.
“Even worse, Mulvaney is a tax cheat who ‘forgot’ to pay taxes owed for an employee — a crime Mulvaney previously thought should disqualify people like him from being nominated to positions in state or federal government. And if Mick Mulvaney can’t handle his family budget, I don’t know how anyone can expect him to be our national budget director. It’s a travesty that Republican Senators haven’t already called for Trump to withdraw Mulvaney’s nomination.”
