Today, American Bridge released a new video slamming Donald Trump’s toxic, partisan threat to withhold coronavirus ahead of a trip to the Great Lakes State. While Trump’s trip is meant to highlight ventilator and personal protective equipment (PPE) production, the focus of Donald Trump’s trip has now shifted to yesterday’s quid-pro-quo via Twitter over the state’s legal decision to mail absentee voter applications to state residents. Watch the video below:
More than 10 weeks ago, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency, and this week, the Great Lakes State surpassed 53,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and 5,000 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths.
“Donald Trump’s failed coronavirus response exposed his utter incompetence, his refusal to listen to experts, and willingness to treat American lives like pawns in a political game. No one knows that better than Michganders,” said Kyle Morse, an American Bridge Spokesperson. “From the beginning, Donald Trump has played a deadly game with Michigan – extorting political praise in exchange for the medical supplies needed to keep patients and frontline health care workers alive. Now, with Michigan having lost 5,000 lives, he’s doubling-down by threatening to withhold Congressionally-approved funds in exchange for state election policies that risks even more people’s lives. Trump does not care about the human cost to Michigan and will be held accountable for his disgusting acts on Election Day.”
