“Trump has nominated one of the least experienced, most unwitting nominees for Secretary of Energy in recent memory — a terrifying pick who will do little to stand between an unstable, erratic President and America’s nuclear weapons. Shockingly, it wasn’t until after his nomination that Perry learned that he responsible for maintaining America’s nuclear arsenal. Dare we say ‘oops’?
“Once promising to cut the Department of Energy, Perry has been bought and paid for by the fossil fuel industry and if confirmed, will have the ability to deregulate environmental protections, putting our children’s health and safety at risk. There are countless ways he could profit — and could add to Republican donors’ pockets — from his position while destroying clean energy jobs, undermining American competitiveness and lowering economic growth.
