Following the groundswell of grassroots support behind American Bridge’s petition demanding that Donald Trump sell his assets—signed by more than 75,000 people—and in light of the lawsuit filed this morning against Donald Trump for violating the Constitution, American Bridge President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“The American people are demanding that Donald Trump sell off his assets in his businesses or risk an unprecedented constitutional crisis. It’s unethical and, frankly, unconstitutional that Donald Trump and his family continue to make millions from his businesses and foreign interests while he serves in public office—it’s an abuse of power, plain and simple.
“Donald Trump must sell his stake in every business he owns or profits from, and he needs to show us all the money and release his tax returns. Until he does, Trump is in clear violation of the Constitution and his responsibilities to the American people.”
