FLASHBACK: Earlier this Year, Graham, Cassidy, Heller Said CBO Scores Vital to Vetting Health Care Bills

This week, Senate Republicans once against exposed their partisan hypocrisy by recklessly dismissing the need for a full CBO score of the Graham-Cassidy-Heller health care bill before voting on it, even though–as recently as this summer–Senators Dean Heller, Lindsay Graham, Bill Cassidy, and many others said they needed a CBO score to evaluate health care bills.

Without a CBO score, basic information such as how many people will lose coverage, how much premiums will increase, and how much more care for common pre-existing conditions will increase will not be known. The Senate GOP’s game plan is to keep Americans in the dark — because they know the more the American people learn about their latest Trumpcare plan, the more they hate it.

“The same senators trying to ram this latest disastrous Trumpcare bill though Congress were — just months ago — eloquently explaining why a comprehensive analysis by the Congressional Budget Office […]

NEW REPORT: Blunt Took Over $2.5 Million From Companies That Outsourced Missouri Jobs

Senator Roy Blunt has taken more than $2.5 million in campaign contributions from companies that outsourced Missouri jobs. Blunt regularly calls himself a jobs champion — but the only jobs he’s helping create are ones in Mexico, China, and India.

According to a new report by American Bridge, Blunt received donations from companies that sent more than 5,300 Missouri jobs overseas, supporting policies that hurt American workers and even veterans.

From the report:

Companies that outsourced at least 5,348 Missouri jobs contributed $2,532,814 to Blunt’s campaigns and PACs. Many of the jobs for which was data were available went to Mexico, China, and India.
Blunt voted against studying the effects of outsourcing and voted repeatedly to protect companies that moved overseas in order to avoid paying taxes in the United States.
Blunt has also voted against denying tax benefits to companies that moved their money overseas, effectively incentivizing offshoring. By doing so, […]

Roy Blunt’s Silence Is Disqualifying

Senator Roy Blunt’s silence in the face of Donald Trump boasting about how he sexually assaults women is disqualifying. The person Blunt supports to be our commander in chief has called Mexicans rapists, attacked our servicemen and women, berated the parents of a soldier killed in Iraq, and much more.

Need more proof that Roy Blunt is only looking out for himself? Now we have tape of Trump saying that he sexually assaults women — in profane and graphic detail that is beneath any person, much less someone who aspires to be president of the United States.

American Bridge President Jessica Mackler issued the following statement on Blunt’s refusal to revoke his support for Trump:

“Today, Roy Blunt has proven that he supports everything that Donald Trump embodies — crude sexism that harms women and is a danger to those around him. Blunt’s decision to stand with Donald Trump — after knowing all […]

GOP Threatens Government Shutdown Rather Than Provide Clean Water & Flood Relief

American Bridge President Jessica Mackler released the following statement in response to this afternoon’s Senate votes:

“Republicans are threatening to shutdown the government rather than provide clean water to familiies in Flint, Michigan, or offer flood relief to Louisianans who lost their homes and belongings only weeks ago. The GOP continues to prove they can’t get the job done when they’re in charge, adding to the burden on American families in order to play politics with women’s health care. Americans are sick of the Trumpian bullying. There’s no chance of redemption for the vulnerable GOP senators as they attempt to fight for re-election after threating to close the government (again) and voting to hurt working families.”

Roy Blunt Too Busy Vacationing To Respond To Global Health Crisis

Senator Roy Blunt is at home in Missouri for recess, and he’s not letting anything get in the way of his vacation time. Before leaving for recess. the Senate GOP majority again refused to do their job and pass a funding bill to fight the spread of the Zika virus. With nearly a dozen cases of the Zika virus confirmed to be contracted in the United States, and a CDC travel advisory in Southern Florida, the crisis is only growing.

But yesterday when Blunt was asked about returning to D.C. for a special session to pass a funding bill, he made clear that recess takes priority over fighting the spread of a global health crisis. Read more below:

New Digital Ads Highlights Senate GOP’s Unwavering Support For Trump

American Bridge is releasing a new digital ad campaign highlighting vulnerable GOP senate candidates’ unwavering support for Donald Trump, even after he lashed out at a Gold Star Family, the Khans.

From American Bridge President Jessica Mackler:

“Republican senators and senate candidates can’t have it both ways: supporting Donald Trump for the presidency means backing his offensive and un-American attacks on the Khan family.  Senators Toomey, Burr, Blunt, Rubio, Johnson, Portman, and Congressman Joe Heck have deserted common decency in favor of the Party of Trump. Their cowardice knows no bounds and they are divorced from reality if they believe that the American voters won’t see through the facade in November.”

Trump’s Crusade Against Gold Star Family Draws Widespread Condemnation–But Not From Elected Republicans

As Donald Trump continues to attack the family of slain United States Army Captain Humayun Khan, outrage from non-partisan veterans’ organizations and military support groups continues to mount. Organizations representing veterans and veterans’ families are calling on Trump to apologize for his outrageous crusade against the Khans.

Remarkably, the number of Republicans who will no longer support him following his attack on military families stands at a grand total of zero. This has apparently changed nothing in the minds of Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, Roy Blunt, Kelly Ayotte, Rob Portman, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, or Paul Ryan who still support Trump after he chose to disparage Gold Star families rather than demonstrate a reverence for their sacrifice.

How Can Congressional Republicans Support Trump After He Denigrated A Gold Star Family?

Somehow, Sens. Kelly Ayotte, Ron Johnson, Chuck Grassley, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, Roy Blunt, and Rob Portman, and Reps. Joe Heck and Todd Young, are still supporting Donald Trump after he lashed out at Gold Star parents for honoring their son who was killed in Iraq by a suicide bomber..

Trump this Sunday displayed his indignant and reactive temperament by questioning Khizr and Ghazala Khan, who spoke at the DNC convention on behalf of their son killed in 2004. The Khans made an impassioned case against Trump for hoping to ban people from the U.S. based on their religion, as well opposing Trump for vilifying people like their son from serving in the U.S. military based on their religion.

“What will it take for Senate and House Republicans to repudiate Trump and his dangerous breed of nationalism?” asked Jessica Mackler, president of American Bridge. “Trump’s disregard for our soldiers’ sacrifices is even more evidence […]

The Worst Kind Of Deja Vu: GOP Senators Reject Common Sense Gun Safety Bills

Today, the following GOP senators voted against legislation that would help prevent suspected terrorists from purchasing guns:

Roy Blunt, Missouri
John Boozman, Arkansas
Richard Burr, North Carolina
Chuck Grassley, Iowa
Ron Johnson, Wisconsin
John McCain, Arizona
Rand Paul, Kentucky
Rob Portman, Ohio

Marco Rubio, Florida

Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania

These GOP senators also voted against closing the background check loophole for guns bought online and at gun shows:

Kelly Ayotte, New Hampshire
Roy Blunt, Missouri
John Boozman, Arkansas
Richard Burr, North Carolina
Chuck Grassley, Iowa
Ron Johnson, Wisconsin
John McCain, Arizona
Rand Paul, Kentucky
Rob Portman, Ohio

Marco Rubio, Florida

Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania

“These are common sense measures, but Senate Republicans refuse to take action against gun violence,” said American Bridge President Jessica Mackler. “Instead of supporting legislation that could make real change, GOP leaders introduced sham legislation that will do little to prevent another mass shooting and will still make it possible for suspected terrorists to get their hands on guns. The GOP should be ashamed that they continue to cower and risk Americans’ safety rather […]

Will Senator Ron Johnson Join Paul Ryan In Calling Out Trump’s Racism?

Similar releases were sent on Senators Ayotte, Blunt, Burr, Kirk, McCain, Paul, Portman, Toomey, Congressman Heck, and senate candidates in Florida and Colorado.

Senator Ron Johnson has pledged his support to Trump in November, and so has House Speaker Paul Ryan. This morning, Ryan called Donald Trump’s attacks on Judge Gonzalo Curiel the “textbook definition of racism.” Will Johnson join Ryan in calling out Trump’s racism?

“GOP leaders like Senator Ron Johnson and Paul Ryan have repeatedly refused to stand up to racism in their party. Donald Trump’s attacks against Judge Curiel are hardly the first time the presumptive nominee has made racist and offensive comments this election cycle,” said American Bridge President Jessica Mackler. “Ryan and Sen. Johnson have cowardly stood by while extremists take over the Republican Party, and their condemnations of Trump are meaningless as long as they promise to cast their ballots for him in November.”
