American Bridge President Jessica Mackler released the following statement on Education Secretary Betsy DeVos saying it’s “overreach” to protect young students from discrimination on the basis of gender identity:
“We knew Betsy DeVos doesn’t respect our public education system and teachers, and now we know that DeVos doesn’t respect the basic human rights of our students. It isn’t “overreach” to keep kids from being bullied, harassed, and discriminated against — and it’s a disgrace that DeVos, Trump, and the rest of the Republican Party think otherwise.”
