American Bridge 21st Century today released the latest video in its Reports From The American Frontlines series, highlighting the latest financial blow to households across the country as they gear up for an expensive back-to-school season.
Families haven’t been able to catch a break this summer in Trump’s economy. They’ve paid hundreds more in gas prices alone since the beginning of Trump’s war with Iran. Fertilizer and diesel fuel costs have soared, putting the finances of farmers in peril and threatening to send grocery prices higher.
Now, after a summer full of financial uncertainty and zero relief from the Trump administration and MAGA Republicans, parents are being asked to stretch already-thin budgets even further to cover supplies, clothes, and cafeteria costs.
“Trump doesn’t care that parents are having to scrape together money for backpacks and pencils they can’t really afford right now,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “He hasn’t lifted a finger to end the war driving up gas and grocery prices, and he isn’t doing anything to put more money back in the hands of the families who need it most.”
Reports From The American Front Line is part of American Bridge’s broader Republican Impacts Project, which uses extensive research to highlight the local effects of Republican policies and hold policymakers accountable for decisions that harm American families.
