House Republicans Want Prices High, Freedom Low

Jul 01, 2026

The anniversary of the passing of Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill is coming up — right on the heels of the most expensive Fourth of July in at least a decade.

“While American families are struggling to afford food for their holiday barbecue or gas for their car, they’re reminded that just under a year ago Republicans cut the programs their constituents rely on,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Monica Venzke. “The Republican agenda is to make sure prices are as high and healthcare is as inaccessible as possible. We don’t think that’s going to be a winner this November.”

As a reminder, the bill that almost every single House Republican voted for:

  • Slashed essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP by over $1 trillion, while giving the top 10% of earners $13,600 a year in tax breaks.
  • Stripped health coverage from 15 million Americans through Medicaid and ACA cuts.
  • Cut off 4.5 million children from the Child Tax Credit with a new parental Social Security number requirement.
  • Gutted clean energy programs, driving up electricity costs and pollution nationwide.
