Today, American Bridge 21st Century released a new video highlighting Ken Paxton’s record of putting abusers above the people of Texas. According to recent reporting from MeidasTouch, Paxton’s office curbed an effort to expose animal abuse in Texas A&M University’s research labs. In 2015, animal rescue groups from 23 states filed more than 100 public records requests trying to find out how over 400 dogs were being treated inside the labs after the university admitted that at least 100 of those dogs experienced pain during testing. Paxton’s office ruled that the care logs could be kept hidden from the public entirely.
This wasn’t an isolated case. Paxton was one of 15 Republicans to vote against a bill that made convicted animal abusers, not taxpayers or shelters, pay for the cost of housing and caring for the animals they’d harmed.
And let’s not forget, his loyalty to child molesters is comparable to his fondness for animal abusers. Paxton let multiple child molesters walk free after giving them sweetheart plea deals, despite both of them initially facing life sentences.
