American Bridge On Donald Trump and David Clarke

American Bridge Vice President Shripal Shah statement on Trump reportedly considering David Clarke to be Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Partnership and Engagement:

“Sheriff David Clarke is a bigot who has allowed numerous people — including an infant — to die or be brutally tortured in his jails and on his watch. Clarke’s actions and beliefs are directly at odds with American values and have no place in our government at any level. It’s shameful that Clarke still holds a job in law enforcement, and appalling that Trump wants to give him a promotion.”

Trump Renews Attacks On Women’s Reproductive Rights by Tapping Anti-Choice Extremist for HHS Post

Today, Donald Trump appointed Charmaine Yoest, a woman with a history of touting dangerous medical conspiracy theories and arguing abortion should be illegal, even in cases of rape or to preserve the life of the woman, to serve as an Assistant Secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services. In response, American Bridge Spokesperson Sabrina Singh released the following statement:

“Donald Trump is stacking his administration with anti-choice extremists who are dead set on rolling back women’s healthcare rights and Charmaine Yoest is a perfect example. Her beliefs are far out of the mainstream and have no place in our government where they’ll put reproductive rights at risk.

Flooding the Swamp: Donald Trump And The NRA

“The NRA spent millions in a record effort to elect Donald Trump and now he’s paying them back by leveraging the White House to do their bidding. Trump’s not draining the swamp, he’s flooding it,” said American Bridge Vice President Shripal Shah.

NRA Spent Its Largest Amount Event To Elect Trump

NRA Spent $30.3 Million In Support Of Trump. “The NRA’s largest 2016 outlay was the $30.3 million it spent in support of Trump. […] The numbers account for independent expenditures—unrestricted money spent on ads and other media, independent of official campaigns.” [Opensecrets.org, 11/9/16]

NRA Spent $30.3 Million For Trump Compared To $12.5 Million For Romney In 2012. “But 2016 was a unique year for the organization, owing to the fact that many super PACs, like Karl Rove’s American Crossroads GPS, which spent roughly $115 million to elect Mitt Romney in 2012, declined to back Trump. Trump’s First 100 Days In 100 Headlines

The Trump presidency started with a lie about his inauguration crowd size and took off from there with broken campaign promises, investigations in the House, Senate, FBI, and DOD, and plans to take health care away from 26 million people and slash taxes for millionaires and companies like his own. Not to mention many, many taxpayer-funded trips to Mar-a-Lago.

As we near a possible government shutdown to coincide with Donald Trump’s 100th day in office, here are 100 headlines that tell the story of his disastrous presidency so far:

Day 99 and Trump’s Economy Isn’t Winning

American Bridge Vice President and Trump War Room Director Shripal Shah issued the following statement after data released by the Commerce Department showed that the U.S. economy grew at its slowest pace in 3 years under Donald Trump:

“99 days into his presidency and Trump’s economy isn’t winning. Job creation isn’t meeting expectations, and in fact, more than 75,000 Americans have been notified of plant closings and layoffs since he took office. Trump is, by his own admission, in over his head and now the country is paying the price.”

100 Days – Donald Trump’s Biggest Broken Promises

During his first 100 days as president, the rate at which Donald Trump has broken the most significant campaign promises he made to the American people on the campaign trail already makes him the most dishonest president in history.

In those 100 days, Trump has tried to force American taxpayers to finance a wall between the United States and Mexico that he assured voters he could persuade Mexico to pay for, flip-flopped on labelling China a “currency manipulator,” and broken his promise to American workers that the Keystone XL pipeline would be built with American-made steel.

Trump also repeatedly told the country that he was a preeminent negotiator and manager, and yet his administration in in turmoil and he has struggled to negotiate with his own party to even keep the government open.

But no issue embodies […]

More Ways To Profit From The Presidency!

“If you’re a local developer or literally anyone who wants a more affordable way to curry favor with Donald Trump, you’re in luck! The new chain of hotels in 30 cities around the country, including down the street from the White House, gives foreign governments, lobbyists, or business leaders a buffet of options for throwing money at Trump and influencing his decision making at the expense of the American people.” — Kevin McAlister, American Bridge spokesperson

$60 Million Better Spent Elsewhere

The Secret Service requested an extra $60 million in funding toward its FY 2018 budget, in order to compensate for the Trump family’s extensive travel, plus the costs associated with securing the Trumps’ three primary residences.

Every Trump trip to Mar-a-Lago costs taxpayers more than $3,000,000. And that’s not including the drag on the local government and small business owners. Trump is charging U.S. taxpayers millions while he jets back and forth to Palm Beach, openly running a pay-to-play scheme and selling access to anyone who can foot the $200,000 membership fee.

“Trump proposes gutting crucial economic development, education, and social programs, while vacationing and funneling money into his own pocket on taxpayers’ dime,” said American Bridge President Jessica Mackler. “Trump’s intentions to get rich off the presidency, and at the expense of the American people, have never been more obvious.”

Here are a few alternative uses […]

Spicer Questions: (No) Calm Before The Snowstorm Edition

American Bridge Vice President Shripal Shah says, “Has Trump even staffed OPM? Asking for a friend,” and calls on White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer to answer the following questions at today’s briefing:

1. How will the Trump Organization’s new Trump trademarks in Mexico influence the President’s effort to renegotiate NAFTA?

2. Did President Trump order Michael Flynn to put ex-FBI agent Brian McCauley on retainer to his consulting firm in October 2016, which was conveniently two weeks after McCauley made a quid-pro-quo allegation against Hillary Clinton?

3. Why hasn’t the White House condemned Rep. Steve King’s comments about Muslim Americans not being equal to other Americans?

4. Do you affirm Donald Trump Jr.’s claim to have “zero” contact with his father despite attending the press event at the White House announcing Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court?

5. Will the White House provide proof that President Trump is donating his $400,000 a year […]

New Muslim Ban, Same As The Old Muslim Ban, Ineffective, Unnecessary, And Racist

American Bridge President Jessica Mackler released the following statement on the new version of Donald Trump’s Muslim ban:

“The new ineffective and racist Muslim ban is no different than the old racist and ineffective Muslim ban. Donald Trump is going to terrifying lengths to turn his hate-filled campaign promise to discriminate on the basis of religion into law. The White House has already been told by our own intelligence community this doesn’t make us safer and admitted it wasn’t necessary by delaying its release for political expediency. This regurgitated executive order should be struck down as an executive overreach that threatens our American values.”
