In Case You Missed It:

Michele Tafoya Abandons Ukraine, Cozies Up to Vladimir Putin

Oct 02, 2026

Just a few years ago, Michele Tafoya was a vocal champion of Ukraine in their war against Russia, even saying she was “inspired” by Volodymyr Zelensky. But Michael Brodkorb reports that now, Tafoya has taken on a pro-Putin stance in an effort to align with Donald Trump.

In a now-deleted Substack post from 2022, Tafoya compared Zelensky to Ronald Reagan and stated, “I’m cheering for good to overcome evil.” Over the last two years, Tafoya has taken on a more condescending tone, calling Zelensky “entitled,” saying Ukraine has “no leverage,” and describing American support of Ukraine as “dumping money” into a “losing effort.” She also praised Trump for cozying up to Putin, stating, “I think there’s a method to this. I think that’s what Trump does.”

“With regards to Ukraine’s war against Russia, the only thing that changed between 2022 and now is Michele Tafoya’s political agenda,” said American Bridge 21st Century Spokesperson Gus Nathanson. “She has become a mouthpiece for the MAGA movement, and there is no room for anti-Putin rhetoric in such a morally corrupt role.”

Read more about Michele Tafoya abandoning her principles in favor of Trump:

  • During a March 2022 interview on the Will Cain show, Tafoya said, “Allowing Putin to direct everything and the rest of the world simply responding to this man rather than setting some terms is a little spineless. And I wish we were holding this man to account.”
    • In the same interview, she stated, “As Americans, we believe in freedom and liberty. And we believe in the Ukrainians’ right to live their lives in freedom.”
  • Days later, Tafoya published a now-deleted Substack titled “The New ‘Greatest Generation.'” In that post, Tafoya had the following things to say about Zelensky and the Ukrainian cause:
    • “It’s impossible to watch Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and not be inspired.”
    • “Ronald Reagan was cut from a similar cloth.”
    • “They see that freedom is worth fighting and dying for. They refuse to be bullied.”
    • “I’m cheering for good to overcome evil.”
    • “Many of them will die as they defend the country and the ideals they love. One can only hope they do not die in vain, and that we all see the honor and glory in their fight.”
  • Tafoya also praised Nikki Haley for calling Putin a murderer.
  • On February 28, 2025, Tafoya tweeted: “What is Zelensky’s endgame? Does he want to end this conflict? And how does he end it without America? We have been benevolent. That hasn’t solved the conflict… Ukraine has no leverage. We care. But we must have boundaries.”
  • In a March 2025 interview on the Mark Reardon Show, Tafoya said the United States was “dumping money” into a “losing effort” and called Zelensky “entitled” in reference to his infamous Oval Office visit.
  • In a July 2026 interview on Cut the Bull, Tafoya talked about Trump and Putin:
    • “People like to say Trump is cozying up to Putin and giving in to Putin. I would say quite the contrary. I would say he’s keeping his enemies closer.”
    • Tafoya on the same show called Putin “this evil, disgusting man.” Then defended Trump for cozying up to him anyway:
      • “I think there’s a method to this. I think that’s what Trump does.”
