Ahead of the first anniversary of Trump signing the Republican spending bill into law, American Bridge 21st Century today released a new video, “One Year Into Trump’s Betrayal of the Working Class,” documenting the concrete, measurable damage the legislation has done to working families across the country.
“While families were grilling out last Fourth of July, Donald Trump was signing a law that would raise their premiums, cut their food assistance, and add nearly four trillion dollars to the national deficit while handing the wealthiest Americans a tax cut,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “A year later, families are paying the price, and we want every American to understand exactly what was done to them and who benefits.”
The law guts food assistance for millions of older Americans, strips health coverage from families who can least afford to lose it, and hands the bill to working people in the form of higher premiums, bare grocery carts, and a deficit that will take generations to pay down.
One year in, the wealthiest Americans got a windfall, and working families got the bill.
