For six months, the Trump administration has dangled the same empty promise: cheaper gas is just around the corner. Six months later, Americans are still waiting, and the national average has held near $4 a gallon for most of the year. Today, American Bridge released a new video that holds those broken promises up against the reality hitting families every time they pull up to the pump.
Gas prices have stayed above $4 for most of the summer, and diesel has climbed even higher, squeezing farmers across the heartland who depend on it to run their operations. The national average reached $4.10 per gallon this month, up 30.0% from a year earlier, and every state recorded year-over-year increases of at least 10.0%.
Still, Trump claimed he’ll never apologize for launching a war that pushed gas prices higher and put more financial strain on households across the country.
Trump and his cabinet have failed to bring prices down, and the American people are the ones paying for it every time they fill up.
