Stacy Garrity won Pennsylvania’s Republican gubernatorial primary after spending her campaign calling the state “mediocre” and cheering on Trump’s unpopular agenda that raised costs, threatened healthcare, and slashed food assistance for working families.
“Stacy Garrity’s campaign was one long audition for Donald Trump,” said Tiffiany Vaughn, a spokesperson at American Bridge 21st Century. “She called Pennsylvania ‘mediocre,’ backed policies that would make life more expensive, and made clear she’d govern like someone taking orders from Mar-a-Lago.”
Here’s why Stacy Garrity is all wrong for Pennsylvania:
- Garrity supported the One Big Beautiful Bill even though the law was projected to leave more than 300,000 Pennsylvanians who rely on Medicaid at risk of losing their healthcare.
- Garrity refused to fund security upgrades at Governor Shapiro’s home despite bipartisan calls to prioritize her opponent’s safety and continued to double down in her refusal to authorize the security upgrades.
- Garrity supported Trump’s tariffs, which were dooming Pennsylvanians to a trade war and rising prices, saying tariffs are “common sense measures.”
- Garrity was an election denier who opposed mail-in ballots, except for when Republicans used them.
- Stacy Garrity opposed Pennsylvania’s lawsuit seeking to restore $13 million in federal funding for Pennsylvania farmers and food banks, and claimed that too many Pennsylvanians were receiving SNAP assistance.
- Garrity celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade and claimed it “was wrong from the beginning.”
- Garrity repeatedly cast doubt on the 2020 election and backed Trump’s push to take over Pennsylvania’s elections.
Pennsylvanians deserve a governor focused on lowering costs and protecting working families, not someone determined to carry out Donald Trump’s most harmful policies.
