It has now been two months since DC Republicans convinced Michele Tafoya to enter the Senate race in Minnesota – and it’s been a complete and total disaster. Tafoya, who is clearly focused on getting a Fox News contract, has made several gaffes despite being pushed as a polished speaker.
“Rather than focusing on Minnesotans’ real concerns, Tafoya appears more interested in right-wing media appearances and national attention,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Gus Nathanson. “Minnesota deserves serious leadership rooted in facts and a genuine commitment to its communities – not a candidate handpicked by DC Republicans who can’t even get the basics right.”
Let’s rewind the tape:
- Tafoya falsely claimed that 30% of California residents were homeless – a lie so bald-faced that her Fox News co-panelists were even stunned.
- Tafoya falsely said that gas prices were down with Trump’s war with Iran and pleaded that “we’ve got to be willing to give up just a little bit of our own personal luxuries right now.”
- Tafoya confused the debt and deficit and claimed that cuts to earned benefits were “not a cut” but a “moratorium.”
- Tafoya finally acknowledged that the Iran war she fully supports was indeed spiking the price of gas and said, “I think right now, at least, just kind of keeping a stiff upper lip. Maybe you take one less trip to Starbucks and so that gas goes a little further. Until this thing is over and these gas prices go back down again, let’s just try to be patriots about this.”
