Mandel: Nothing to Say About D.C. Fundraising Trips

In this video, Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel dodges a question about his frequent trips to D.C. to raise money from Washington lobbyists. Mandel is running for Senate against Sherrod Brown.

When Mandel pulled up to a Capitol Hill fundraiser hosted by lobbying group Polaris Government Relations, Mandel was asked, “Treasurer Mandel, we see you in D.C. a lot raising money from Washington lobbyists, are you missing any important duties back home as Ohio’s treasurer?”

Mandel did not respond. This video was captured by an American Bridge tracker on November 30, 2011.

Rick Perry’s Pay-to-Play Homecoming

According to D.C. folklore, the term “lobbying” was first popularized at the city’s famous Willard Hotel, making it a fitting backdrop for Rick Perry’s first Washington fundraiser.

In honor of this historic event, American Bridge released a silent film-themed video to highlight Perry’s troubling track record of cronyism and pay-to-play politics in Texas.
