Three U.S. Soldiers Dead as Trump Shares a Luxury Suite With the FIFA President

Jul 20, 2026

At least two U.S. soldiers were killed over the weekend in an Iranian attack on a U.S. base in Jordan, and another is listed as missing in action. A third American service member died in Iraq after “a controlled detonation” of an Iranian drone.

When asked about Iran’s announcement that negotiations had collapsed and it would no longer honor the ceasefire memorandum he signed, Trump said he “couldn’t care less.”

Rather than treat the moment with urgency, as this war grows more dangerous and more unpopular each day, Trump watched the World Cup final with FIFA president Gianni Infantino in a luxury suite.

Trump and his cabinet spent months insisting Iran’s ability to strike U.S. forces and Gulf allies had been degraded or destroyed. One week from now, Trump’s war with Iran will have lasted 150 days, after he and his cabinet projected the war would be over in weeks.

Americans are paying for this war twice. In lives, with 17 service members killed and hundreds wounded overseas. And in dollars, through spiking fuel costs and strained emergency reserves at home.

“Americans are paying for this war with their lives overseas and in dollars at home, and the man who started it can’t even pretend to care,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Every family grieving a service member and every worker watching their paycheck shrink deserves a president who treats this war like the emergency it is, not a background noise he tunes out on his way to the stadium.”
