Trump Cancels Affordability

As Inflation Hits Three-Year High, Trump Walks Away from Housing Relief

New economic data released today shows the Federal Reserve’s primary inflation gauge hit an annual rate of 4.1 percent, the highest in three years. Core personal consumption expenditures rose at a 3.4 percent annual rate, also a multi-year high.

If Trump loves inflation, then he’s got to be ecstatic today. Families, on the other hand, are tired of having their budgets stretched to their limits.

Yesterday, Trump made it worse and used his power to delay a bipartisan housing affordability bill that would increase housing supply, cut red tape holding up construction, and limit Wall Street investors from buying up single-family homes.

“Affordability in America is canceled under Donald Trump. The inflation he promised to solve is still stressing the budgets of working families, and when he had an opportunity to address the cost of living, he walked away in favor of a voter suppression bill his own party cannot pass in the Senate,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Families are getting left behind in Trump’s America, and he’s made it clear that he does not care.”
