Trumponomics: 400,000 Fewer Jobs Added in 2025

Feb 11, 2026

New data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Trump’s economy created 403,000 fewer jobs in 2025 than initially reported.

While Trump shrugged off concerns about affordability, families experienced the slowdown long before today’s revisions. Trump’s economy was not as strong as advertised. It was soft and brittle, held up by AI-related investment and reinforced by political messaging rather than broad-based, durable growth.

Trump owns the 2025 economy and the lackluster job growth. Just ask his own economic advisors:

“This revision underscores a deeper truth. Working people were already stretched thin last year, and the Trump agenda made it worse. Mass firings, attacks on workers’ rights, suppressing workers’ wages, and chaotic policy swings ruined a job-creation juggernaut and made it harder for working families to get ahead,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “This is an economy that only works for the richest Americans like Donald Trump, concentrating gains at the top while leaving everyone else with fewer opportunities. It’s why the broader MAGA agenda remains deeply unpopular and why Trump himself is terrified about what that means for the coming midterm elections.”
