Congressman and former lobbyist Jim Renacci has spent the last seven years in Washington voting to hurt Ohioans, so he’s desperately trying to portray himself as a political outsider. Too bad for him, his biggest fans and donors are Washington insiders and lobbyists just like him.
Yesterday, Congressman Jim Renacci raised money from the likes of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, NRSC Chair Cory Gardner, and seven other U.S. Senators. Tickets sold for the swampy price of $1,000 – $5,000 per person.
“It’s no wonder Washington insiders love Congressman Renacci — he’s one of them, voting for special interests and depending on them to fund his campaign,” said American Bridge spokesperson Joshua Karp. “From being a registered lobbyist while serving in Congress to funding his campaign with a straw donor scheme, Jim Renacci’s not an outsider — he’s been living in the heart of the swamp. But the more Congressman Renacci lies, the more Ohioans see him for what he really is: an insider desperate for a promotion he doesn’t deserve.”
