Walker: Protect Children From Gay Boy Scout Leaders

Jul 14, 2015

On his second day of officially running for the presidency, Scott Walker suggested that gay Boy Scout leaders might abuse children. In an interview with IJ Review on the new Scout policy allowing gay leaders, Walker said:

“I have had a lifelong commitment to the Scouts and support the previous membership policy because it protected children and advanced Scout values.”

Walker supported the ban on gay leaders because it “protected children.” Not only is he dead wrong, since researchers and psychologists overwhelmingly agree that “homosexual and bisexual men do not pose any special threat to children,” his extreme positions on this, a constitutional amendment allowing states to ban marriage equality, opposing legal immigration, and more show just how out-of-touch and offensive the Republican party has become.
