News Press Releases Markwayne Mullin Pam Bondi Thursday, Apr 2 2026

Wham. Bam. No, Thank You, Pam!

Bondi Leaves a Legacy of Degrading DOJ Independence

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi was one of the most loyal members of Donald Trump’s cabinet — playing dumb when asked about controversial statements from her future bosslying to senators during her confirmation hearing, and even throwing a full-blown tantrum during her latest trip to Capitol Hill, but even her record of blind loyalty couldn’t protect her from Trump’s chaos.

Bondi put Trump above justice, the rule of law, and the critical need for the Department of Justice to be independent from the White House. She weaponized her position of power by firing prosecutors who investigated January 6th, firing FBI agents who investigated Donald Trump, and pursuing the frivolous indictments of James Comey and Letitia James, and fumbling the release of the Epstein files that included unsavory depictions of her boss.

Trump promised Americans a Justice Department laser-focused on upholding the law, but he’s failed to keep that cornerstone campaign promise. Instead, he has directed the Department of Justice to focus on his political vendettas and rooting out dissent throughout the ranks of the federal government.

Of course, Trump isn’t going to take the blame for any of that, so he made Pam Bondi a scapegoat for his many failures.

“Pam Bondi’s legacy will be known as the attorney general who did everything in her power to end the independence of the Department of Justice. At every turn, she worked for an audience of one instead of the American people, and that still couldn’t save her job from a man more focused on revenge than public safety,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “The Department of Justice isn’t supposed to be a loyalty contest or a soft-landing pad for failed right-wing pundits, but you can be sure that Trump will nominate someone who fits that mold as his now-third choice for attorney general.”

Trump’s DOJ picks follow a pattern of not being the most qualified but being among the most loyal in his orbit. For now, that’s interim Attorney General Todd Blanche, a morally bankrupt lawyer who defended the DOJ’s handling of the Epstein files and dismissed Trump’s involvement. And when Epstein’s victims responded, Blanche ignored them and played victim.

But he’s just keeping the seat warm. Trump’s next nominee to lead the DOJ will be another person who simply passes the loyalty test.

Stay tuned with American Bridge on Research-Books to get the latest tea and research on whichever morally bankrupt candidate makes the cut.
