What's Trump Ever Done For Michigan Working People?

Mar 15, 2017

Here’s a question, with Trump in Michigan today: What’s Donald Trump ever done for Michigan’s working families? So far, nothing — even as more than 2,400 Michigan workers have have been notified of layoffs since he took office.

Here’s Trump on the auto rescue, which saved 1.5 million U.S. jobs, a number of them in Michigan: “You could have let it go bankrupt.” That’s reflective of Trump’s general ambivalence toward the plight of American — and Michigan — working families who are struggling to get ahead.

Trump has been in office for two months, but he’s yet to take any steps to fulfill his “bring back jobs” promises. Where’s Trump’s infrastructure plan? When will Trump, as he promised, take actual steps to save American jobs being lost to outsourcing

American Bridge President Jessica Mackler issued the following statement on Trump’s Michigan visit:

“Since Trump took office, over 2,400 Michigan workers have been notified of layoffs. Meanwhile, he hasn’t even acknowledged this reality, let alone done anything about what’s happened on his watch. All Donald Trump has to offer Michigan’s working families is a dangerous healthcare plan that will take away 24 million Americans’ insurance and punish seniors to pay for massive tax breaks for insurance company CEOs.”
