Senator Pat Toomey has invested in and sat on the board of Yorktown University. The for-profit college is known for its “courses that railed against political correctness, feminism, egalitarianism and multiculturalism.” One of the courses even said single women were at risk of becoming lesbians. But it’s not just the school’s curriculum that are under scrutiny. For-profit colleges like Donald Trump’s scam, Trump U, burden their students with huge amounts of debt and “graduates find themselves… unable to land the kinds of jobs the schools promised.”
“Senator Toomey is a shill for the special interests of Trump U-style for-profit colleges that scam Americans who are trying to better themselves through education. He is working to make it easier for such companies to con people out of their money and into debt, co-sponsoring legislation that claims to provide academic freedom but really gets rid of regulations protecting consumers,” said American Bridge President Jessica Mackler. “Senator Toomey should immediately rescind his investment in Yorktown and stop protecting the interests of predatory for-profit colleges.”
