100 Days of Economic Chaos, Betrayal, and Failure

Apr 29, 2025

Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office are nothing short of a failure. He failed to deliver on key campaign promises, unleashed chaos on the American economy, and betrayed the working-class households he promised to protect.

100 Days of Economic Chaos

Trump’s tariff tax hike is the largest since 1982, delivering the most pain for the poorest fifth of Americans, who will see a tax increase equal to 6.2% of their income. His policies will cost the average household $4,700 more this year.

The International Monetary Fund slashed expectations for U.S. growth for 2025 to a dismal 1.8%, down from 2.7% in January. As of today, experts forecast a 60% chance of a global recession due to Trump’s trade war.

Trump’s chaos brought uncertainty that still looms over business owners, forcing some to raise prices and others to close their doors. According to a recent poll from the Small Business Majority, 53% of small business owners are concerned that Trump’s tariff tax will negatively impact their business.

Trump promised to lower grocery prices on day one of his presidency, but the food inflation rate has increased each month since he was sworn in. In fact, the price of everything is going up. Thanks to Trump’s policies taxing nearly every major milestone of American life, Trump is already raising prices for Americans who are having a baby, getting married, starting a business, and reaching their golden years.

100 Days of Betraying Older Americans, Americans with Disabilities, and Middle-Class Families

Trump’s betrayal included gutting the Social Security Administration, putting the accessibility of services at risk for millions of vulnerable Americans who were promised their benefits would always be there for them.

In one of his most lawless actions of his term so far, the Trump administration ordered the pause of all federal grants and loans dispersed by the federal government, jeopardizing critical funding integral to the lives of everyday Americans. At least 20 states were reportedly locked out of their Medicaid reimbursement systems during the initial freeze.

The Trump administration’s freeze paused steps in the lengthy and intricate federal research grant review process. According to experts, research groups relying on NIH funding for ongoing projects will face cash flow challenges, resulting in a need to scale back research activities or reassign staff.

The one promise Trump is desperate to keep is passing a new, permanent tax cut for the richa $4.6-trillion kickback to billionaires that will increase the national debt and require cuts to essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP to afford it.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, permanently extending Trump tax cuts would raise taxes on middle-income Americans by up to $8,300 while giving the top 1% another handout.

Trump’s Failure Reflected in Lowest 100-Day Approval Rating in 80 Years

According to recent surveys, Trump’s job approval rating has nosedived, giving him the lowest 100-day approval rating in 80 years.

According to an analysis by Pew Research Center, Trump’s disruptive approach to the economy and governing are wildly unpopular: 59% of Americans disapprove of the administration’s tariff hikes; 55% disapprove of the cuts being made to federal departments and agencies, and 51% of U.S. adults believe Trump is setting too many policies via executive orders.
