Today, former Maryland governor Larry Hogan announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate.
In response, American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Monica Venzke released the following statement:
“Larry Hogan’s Senate candidacy is even stupider than the rumors of his third-party presidential candidacy. Hogan is nothing more than an anti-choice, spineless coward whose record speaks for itself. Marylanders were happy to see him go and will handedly reject him in November.”
Larry Hogan is no moderate. His anti-abortion rights record is expansive, and includes him publicly supporting his father’s efforts to ban abortions at county hospitals, vetoing a measure that would expand abortion access in Maryland, and supporting other states’ efforts to ban abortion. He has stated that he’s “personally opposed to abortion.”
In addition, Larry Hogan’s administration proposed $20 million in cuts to Medicare to help address Maryland’s budget shortfall in 2016.
But Hogan isn’t the only Marylander who announced a Senate run today — Maryland’s own Matt Rosendale announced his bid for U.S. Senate in Montana.
