In response to the Supreme Court’s draft opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade, American Bridge 21st Century has launched a website to educate voters in swing states about where GOP lawmakers stand on abortion rights.
As part of the work as the largest research and tracking operation in Democratic and progressive politics, Repro-files.com is a tool created to hold anti-abortion Republicans accountable.
The siteis a centralized research hub and resource for allies in the fight to protect abortion access and reproductive health care by exposing anti-choice legislators in order to hold them accountable at the ballot box.
Read and watch what they’re saying:
MSNBC: “At American Bridge, we launched a new website so that people can go and see the statements of Republicans both in office and who are running for office in their own words. It’s extraordinary that they are absolutely on the record and in some cases, as we saw in the state of Ohio and the Senate primary, we’re seeing in the state of Pennsylvania, the same thing, rushing to the most extreme possible positions that completely takes away the right of women to make decisions about their own bodies, but puts their own health at risk. It’s absolutely unheard of.”
The Washington Post: “The group rushed to finish a website that details positions taken on abortion by Republican candidates and officeholders in key states. The site, which went live Tuesday, includes detailed dossiers of public positions that candidates have taken over the years, including quotes from news interviews and social media. One aim is to highlight any suggestions by candidates that women might be arrested for getting abortions, or doctors imprisoned for performing them. ‘For years, many Republican candidates and officeholders have thrown out these platitudes about their position on abortion, but they’ve really never been held to account for the impact on women and pregnant people,’ said Cecile Richards, a co-chair at American Bridge and former president of Planned Parenthood.”
Axios: “One of the Democrats’ largest research organizations, American Bridge 21st Century, has changed its midterms strategy since the draft opinion leaked. It’s also launched a website tracking Senate, gubernatorial, attorney general and down-ballot races across 10 states around Republican candidates’ anti-abortion positions, messages and laws. The group is enlisting influencers to market the website and educate voters in swing states about where GOP lawmakers stand on abortion rights.”
The 19th: “Republican lawmakers in many states are preparing to limit abortion access as soon as the court rules. Democratic-led state legislatures and governors are trying to shore up abortion access but say they may be unprepared for the surge of patients from other states. Earlier this week, American Bridge 21st Century, a Democratic super PAC, launched a public tool that will allow voters to track Republicans’ positions on abortion access.”
Yahoo! News: “‘Most people never thought this was possible. So this has not been on the radar of the average voter,’ said Cecile Richards, the former longtime president of Planned Parenthood who is now co-chairing American Bridge 21st Century, a super-PAC that backs Democrats. ‘When the American people have to start seeing doctors and women arrested, nurses and people actually now facing criminal penalties, I just think it’s a very different thing. It makes it very real,’ Richards said. ‘And so I do think there’s no way to know exactly what will happen. But I do believe this has dramatically changed the landscape.’”
