American Bridge 21st Century Releases New Virginia Ad

Oct 28, 2021

Today, American Bridge 21st Century partnered with Red Wine & Blue to release a new coordinated ad with the McAuliffe campaign highlighting Virginia moms who are standing up and voting against Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin and his far-right extremist agenda. The ad is backed by a six-figure buy on broadcast TV, cable, and digital platforms in the Richmond media market

The ad criticizes the Youngkin campaign for attempting to scare parents with lies, misleading claims, and conspiracy theories about what is being taught in Virginia schools. On the campaign trail, the Trumpian Republican has used countless racist dog whistles, as well as children and schools as political pawns to advance his bigoted agenda.

Now, in the final week of the campaign, Youngkin has embraced book banning as his closing message

Watch ‘A Better Example’ here:

“In the closing weeks of this election, Virginia Republicans have turned to the same playbook they’ve used countless times before: fearmongering and racist dog whistles,” said American Bridge 21st Century President Jessica Floyd. “I am a Virginia mom, so this is personal. The Virginia that Glenn Youngkin is offering puts division and scare tactics ahead of our children’s future. And parents simply won’t accept that. These desperate attempts to divide us didn’t work for Donald Trump and Ken Cuccinelli and they won’t work for Glenn Youngkin.”

“The loudest, most extreme voices have been taking up all the oxygen and Virginia moms have had enough,” said Katie Paris, founder of Red Wine & Blue. “Suburban women see through the GOP’s deceptive attempts to scare us, just like we saw through Trump’s appeals to suburban women in 2020. Those backfired and Youngkin’s will, too.”

In addition to a $100 million paid media campaign in key target states geared towards the 2022 midterms, American Bridge 21st Century went up on air in Virginia before the primary had concluded, running multiple ads targeting a diverse group of suburban women who will decide the winner next week. The ads focus on the families, small businesses, and communities that benefit from provisions found in President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ historic Build Back Better agenda.
