In response to the Supreme Court of the United States decision in Trump vs. United States, American Bridge 21st Century Communications Director of Presidential Campaigns, Brandon Weathersby, released the following statement:
“Today, three Supreme Court justices nominated by Donald Trump helped the twice-impeached convicted felon avoid further accountability under the law. By standing with Trump and bastardizing the Constitution in support of Trump’s anti-democratic actions, the highest court in the land further delays justice and allows Donald Trump to continue to spread the lie that his actions after the 2020 election were part of his official duties as president and that he is immune from any and all prosecution.
“Trump pressured election officials to lie about the security of the 2020 election, enlisted fake electors to falsely claim he won the election, and exploited a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol to cause chaos and stop the certification of the election.
“Despite the Supreme Court tilting the scales in favor of Donald Trump’s authoritarian vision of the presidency, voters know that Trump is a threat to democracy. As Trump’s legal issues continue, they only serve as a reminder to voters of his chaotic time in office and its violent conclusion. In November, they’ll make sure he doesn’t have the opportunity to undermine democracy and the rule of law from the White House ever again.”
