American Bridge Releases Report Detailing Trump’s Failed Coronavirus Response

Jun 23, 2020

The report contrasts the erratic U.S. response to other developed nations

Today, 2,200,000 Americans have contracted the virus, and 120,000 have lost their lives – with no end in sight. But it didn’t have to be this way.

Without a vaccine or therapy, public health experts warned that mitigation efforts – informed by widespread rapid testing – are the best tools we have to combat coronavirus. To deadly effect, Donald Trump and his administration failed to prepare, refused to listen to science, and struggled to get a testing regime off the ground fast enough. Other world leaders met the moment, saved lives, and flattened the curve.

Donald Trump said the quiet part out loud from the BOK Center in Tulsa, but we already knew the truth: Trump will always put politics over the American people – no matter the cost. Trump’s refusal to champion basic public health measures that dramatically slow the spread of coronavirus are disqualifying. It is abundantly clear that the American cannot afford four more years of reckless and dangerous policies that have tanked our economy and made a once-in-century pandemic even worse.

“Donald Trump and his advisors are reeling following the president’s stunning admission on Saturday night that he slowed down covid testing. Trump’s anti-science, reality show response has spotlighted his weak ‘leadership’ and frail ego that prioritizes politics over the health of our nation,” said Kyle Morse, an American Bridge spokesperson. “Donald Trump is a failure and we cannot re-hire him for a job that he proves daily he is unable and unwilling to perform.”
