After a bizarre town hall in Oaks, PA last night and canceling a cable news interview this morning, Donald Trump made his first public appearance since making a crowded room of supporters listen to Ave Maria on repeat. During a visit to the Economic Club of Chicago, Trump rambled through many answers, attacked the Bloomberg editor-in-chief, and displayed more behavior unfit for a president for over an hour.
Brandon Weathersby, spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century, released the following statement:
“Donald Trump did very little to alleviate concerns about his mental fitness today. Trump couldn’t stay on topic and had to be reminded of the questions he was asked several times. He offered contradicting statements about his own proposed plans. He even admitted that he thinks everything is a threat, an insight into years of Trump spreading paranoid conspiracy theories. Trump is deeply unwell and unfit for the role of commander-in-chief.”
The most bizarre moments from Trump’s combative Bloomberg interview:
- Trump often went on off-topic rants and gave non-answers, frustrating both his interviewer and the audience.
- Trump refused to answer if he’ll accept the election results and called the events after the 2020 election a peaceful transfer of power, despite the violent January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol aimed at overturning the election.
- Trump refused to answer if he secretly spoke to Vladimir Putin after leaving office and said it would be a good thing if he did.
- Trump attacked the Wall Street Journal and other economic experts for concluding his proposals would increase inflation, explode the national debt, and cost jobs.
- Trump admitted he is paranoid and thinks “everything’s a threat.”
- Trump went out of his way to attack the city of Detroit and the chair of the Federal Reserve.
