Today, North Carolina Congressman and Republican candidate for U.S.Senate Ted Budd did the bidding of his top campaign backer and voted against natural disaster relief funding – even as North Caroline braces for the remnants of Hurricane Ian.
“Ted Budd has spent his entire career leaving North Carolinians behind and he continues to try and climb the political ladder,” said American Bridge spokesperson Sarah Abel. “At a time when North Carolina needed their leaders to put their own self-interests aside, Ted Budd refused. Voters will hold him accountable in November.”
And this isn’t the first time Budd has turned his back on North Carolinians to do the bidding of corporate billionaire-backed Club for Growth and its affiliates in Washington:
-
Voted to drive up health care costs and keep prescription drug costs high;
-
Backed cuts to retirement security;
-
Pushed tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthy—and opposed tax cuts for working families;
-
Supported a zero-exception ban to outlaw all abortions;
-
And worked to overturn the 2020 election and downplayed Jan. 6 violence.
