After arranging a dog and pony show Friday to tell Nevadans he wouldn’t “currently” support the Senate draft of Trumpcare, Dean Heller is now “back at the table” negotiating a bill that would strip health care away from millions and make the cost of care skyrocket. Of course, Heller always left himself some wiggle room, because his vote is all about getting himself re-elected, not doing what’s right for Nevadans.
This news comes after Heller attended a meeting with President Trump where he brought up TV ads a pro-Trump group was airing attacking Heller for his “no” position. Lo and behold, after the meeting, the Trump group took down their ads. So what kind of promises did Dean Heller make to get Trump to pull those ads?
“This is exactly why Nevadans don’t trust Dean Heller—he’ll do anything to save his own hide,” said American Bridge spokesperson Joshua Karp. “The truth is, Dean Heller has sold out Nevadans repeatedly on healthcare and, behind closed doors, he promised to do everything he can to get to a yes on Trumpcare, a disastrous bill that rips away care from hundreds of thousands of Nevadans.”
Heller’s real record on health care:
- Heller promised donors in a closed-door meeting he’d “do everything I can to get to a yes” on Trumpcare.
- Heller campaigned on repealing ACA, and voted to repeal or weaken ACA at least 20 times.
- Heller voted 25 times to cut Medicaid and end or undermine the ACA’s Medicaid expansion.
