Heartland Signal released newly resurfaced audio of JD Vance attacking the president of the American Federation of Teachers, Randi Weingarten, for not having children. During the 2021 Center for Christian Virtue U.S. Senate Forum, Vance claimed it disturbed him that Weingarten didn’t have children and said, “If she wants to brainwash and destroy the minds of children, she should have some of her own and leave ours the hell alone.”
Since he was announced as Trump’s running mate last month, Vance’s misogynistic obsession with punishing childless people has taken center stage. Vance’s 2021 statements about childless women provoked actress Jennifer Aniston and conservative women like Meghan McCain to speak out against him.
In a 2021 interview on The Charlie Kirk Show podcast, Vance suggested that the country needed to “reward the things that we think are good” and “punish the things that we think are bad” — before suggesting that individuals without children should be taxed at a higher rate than those with children.
The same year, JD Vance was featured on The Portal podcast and interjected to agree with the podcast host’s claim that postmenopausal women exist solely to help men and their wives take care of children.
A CNN KFile analysis found several examples over the course of a few years of Vance saying similarly disparaging things when talking about people without children, including a podcast appearance where he said the country’s “leadership class” were “more sociopathic” than those with children and made the country “less mentally stable.”
