Today, American Bridge 21st Century co-chair and former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards released the following statement on the Biden-Harris Administration’s decision to ask the Supreme Court to block Texas’ unconstitutional abortion ban:
“I am grateful that the Biden-Harris Administration is taking action to stop Texas Republicans’ cruel, unconstitutional abortion ban and once again standing up for the fundamental right of people to make their own health care decisions,” said American Bridge 21st Century co-chair Cecile Richards. “Now, the Supreme Court must block the enforcement of this cruel law until the full legal process plays out. Stopping this law in the courts is the first step, but with Republican assaults on reproductive freedom across the country we know the fight to truly stop these attacks will be won at the ballot box. Women voters were the key to obtaining Democratic majorities in the House and Senate and our party must do everything in our power to stand by them. We must communicate to and activate this diverse group of voters ahead of the 2022 midterms — the constitutional rights of tens of millions of women depend on it.”
