On October 9, 2011, the Columbus Dispatch reported:
“If a New Hampshire campaign piece for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney looks familiar to Ohioans, that’s because it is.
The piece features Romney standing before a crowd, under the headline, “New Hampshire — Let’s Get to Work.”
But it’s not a New Hampshire company highlighted in the piece. Instead, it’s Screen Machine, a Pataskala manufacturer of portable jaw and impact crushing equipment. Romney visited the plant in July. After his visit, Democrats criticized Romney, a Republican presidential candidate, for visiting a plant that had benefited from the very federal stimulus bill that Romney has criticized.
Critics say it’s misleading for the campaign to use an Ohio photo with a piece promising to create jobs in New Hampshire.
“Having failed economics, it now looks like he has failed geography, too,” said Matt Thornton of American Bridge 21st Century, a progressive research and communications organization.”
