It only took a few hours after the news broke that Vice President Kamala Harris was the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee for Donald Trump to tuck his tail and run for the hills.
After months of boasting about his debate skills, Trump attacked ABC News earlier this week saying the outlet was “not worthy” of holding a debate after covering President Biden’s selfless decision to end his re-election campaign and support Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
Desperate to project strength, Trump reversed course on a conference call with reporters the next day saying he’d be “willing” to debate the vice president more than once regardless of the hosting media outlet.
That changed last night when Trump’s campaign abandoned its “any time, any place” debate mantra and officially backed out of the previously scheduled September 10th debate.
“Donald Trump is running scared. He knows he can’t hold a candle to a seasoned debater and decorated prosecutor like Vice President Harris. His campaign is not ready to face someone who inspires millions with their commitment to protecting justice, freedom, and individual rights like Vice President Harris,” said American Bridge 21st Century’s Communications Director of Presidential Campaigns, Brandon Weathersby. “As Trump himself said on the campaign trail in North Carolina this week, he’s the convicted criminal and she’s the prosecutor. We look forward to helping Vice President Harris take the case against Trump to the voters whenever he is ready to come out of hiding.”
