Exactly four weeks after Paul Ryan said he wasn’t “ready” to endorse Donald Trump, Paul Ryan is — in what will be a surprising move to some — endorsing Donald Trump.
What changed Ryan’s mind? Here are a few things from the last month that may have convinced him to hop on the Trump Train:
- Trump attacked the federal judge overseeing the Trump University fraud case and went of his way to call the Indiana-born judge “Mexican.”
- Trump refused to back off his Muslim ban.
- Trump attacked New Mexico Governor and Republican Governors’ Association Chair Susana Martinez.
- We learned that Trump gleefully cheered on the housing crisis.
- Trump called for teachers to have guns in classrooms.
- It was discovered Trump lied about his donations to veterans charities.
Those aside, it certainly didn’t hurt that Trump has in the last few weeks:
- Called for ending the federal minimum wage;
- Promised to repeal Dodd-Frank; and,
- Expressed an openness to cutting earned benefits.
A month has passed since Paul Ryan hedged on endorsing Trump, but Donald Trump is still a xenophobic, misogynistic, fear-mongering scam artist who wants to deregulate Wall Street, appoint anti-choice justices, and get rid of the federal minimum wage.
