Donald Trump Lies About Project 2025

In a post to Truth Social this morning, Donald Trump claimed to “know nothing about Project 2025,” including having “no idea who is behind it.”

That’s a clear lie as Project 2025 features several pro-Trump organizations and individuals in its braintrust and has publicly said their goals were to build an administration ready for another Trump presidency.

Get the facts on Project 2025’s goals to permanently install Trumpism during a second Trump term:

Project 2025 was put together by the pro-Trump Heritage Foundation and is composed of over 100 far-right groups – including groups Trump has allied with publicly, like Turning Point USA, Moms for Liberty, and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.
The Heritage Foundation’s leader, Kevin Roberts, said he wanted to institutionalize “Trumpism” and just this week, called the 2024 general election the “second American Revolution” that will be bloodless “if the left allows it to be.”
Project 2025 advertised that they wanted to put a second Trump administration together by “properly” vetting the personnel for individual loyalties to Trumpism. The organization scoured social media accounts and asked applicants to fill out a questionnaire as part of their loyalty vetting process.

Project 2025 has been closely aligned with Donald Trump’s stated goals for a second term, which include letting extreme state legislatures restrict reproductive rights, eliminate funding for public schools, cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy and large corporations, and withdraw from international organizations:

On Taxes
- Trump called for extending tax cuts given to the wealthy and corporations in his first term – which would cost double the amount in a second term – and proposed cutting corporate taxes again as low as 15%.
- Project 2025 called to lower the corporate tax rate to 18% and reform the individual income tax into a two-rate system which included only a 15% and 30% tax bracket.
On Abortion
- Trump said he was “looking at” restrictions to birth control, the morning-after pill, and other forms of contraception.
- Project 2025 proposed enforcing the Comstock Act and outlawing mifepristone.
