Republican Congressman Gabe Evans (CO-08) has backed the GOP’s budget resolution, a measure that could result in millions of Americans losing access to health care and groceries. This decision comes at the expense of critical support for working families, all to give a massive tax break to billionaires.
“Evans ran away from reporters when asked about his support for Trump’s budget. Then he betrayed 125,900 living, breathing people in his district who were relying on him to protect their health insurance. I’m sure the billionaires will enjoy their tax cut. But voters will not forget,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado.
The budget resolution would cut Medicaid up to $880 billion and SNAP up to $230 billion. Coloradans who depend on Medicaid and SNAP will suffer as a result:
- Approximately 125,900 (19.5%) of Evans’ constituents in Colorado’s 8th District are covered by Medicaid or CHIP, and over 29,000 have used SNAP.
Before Evans voted to slash Medicaid, he refused to comment.
