Florida Man and Failed U.S. Senate Candidate Mike Rogers Is Back, And So Are the Bad MAGA Policies That He Supports

Rogers would support Trump in his mission to cut Social Security and Medicaid

Florida man and failed U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers is gearing up for another Senate bid in Michigan after his loss to Elissa Slotkin just a few months ago. Despite his defeat, Rogers’ return to the race is a troubling signal for Michigan voters who are already struggling under the weight of disastrous economic policies and cuts to Medicaid and Social Security pushed by Donald Trump – policies that Rogers fully supports and seeks to continue.

Rogers’ prior attempt at a Senate seat ended in embarrassing failure, including his cringeworthy trip straight to Mar-a-Lago to beg Trump for an appointment as FBI Director – a request that was denied. But even in the wake of that defeat, and despite the fact that Trump-aligned candidates have lost every statewide race in Michigan since 2016, Rogers is making another attempt. His campaign faces significant obstacles: a messy primary, a tarnished reputation, and Michiganders bracing for the fallout from Trump and the GOP’s attacks on Medicaid and Social Security, which Rogers fully supports.

Trump’s destructive agenda continues to haunt the country, and Mike Rogers is aligning himself with policies that will only worsen the pain for Michiganders, including auto workers who have already expressed their disdain for Rogers. It is clear that if elected, Rogers would support Trump’s plan to cut Medicaid and Social Security in order to pay for tax cuts for Elon Musk and other billionaires.

“Michigan already gave Mike Rogers the boot the first time he ran for Senate,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado. “Even after losing Michigan while Trump won, Rogers is delusional enough to think that voters won’t remember him and that a rerun will somehow end differently. Voters know exactly what Rogers is trying to bring to Michigan: a rubber stamp on Trump’s disastrous economic policies, including deep cuts to Social Security and Medicaid that will hurt working families.”

American Bridge 21st Century has all the receipts from Rogers’ last Senate run and we will continue to hold him accountable. Last election, Bridge uncovered constituent letters where Rogers pledged to push a federal ban on abortion, exposed him for being registered to vote where he wasn’t living and for accepting over half a million dollars in dark money to advocate for corporate interests.
