Donald Trump’s unqualified pick for attorney general, Pam Bondi, will be going through the Senate Judiciary Committee to defend her disastrous record of helping Trump with his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and abusing her power as Florida’s attorney general to help Trump avoid prosecution.
John Cornyn, who is up for reelection in 2026, has already met with Bondi and praised her as “an excellent nomination.” Thom Tillis, also up for reelection, pledged his support for Bondi and said he will be “leading the charge” to get her confirmed.

“John Cornyn and Thom Tillis are so desperate to dodge a primary challenge that they’d rather hitch their wagons to Trump’s election-denying ally Pam Bondi than defend our democracy,” said Nico Delgado, spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century. “Their thumbs-up for this scandal-plagued, power-abusing pick is a big red flag for voters in Texas and North Carolina.”
