Heller Hypocrisy Alert: Dean Heller is “Back at the Table” Negotiating Trumpcare in Secret, Once Sponsored Bill to Make Healthcare Debate Public

Dean Heller, who is backpedaling on his announcement that he’d oppose Trumpcare and is now negotiating in secret for “bribes” from the White House or Mitch McConnell, once sponsored legislation to ensure healthcare legislation be debated in public.

In 2009, Heller cosponsored H.Res.847 which would have called for health care negotiations to happen in public:

“Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that any conference committee or other meetings held to determine the content of national health care legislation be conducted in public under the watchful eye of the people of the United States.”

Heller has also repeatedly lamented closed-door deals, and made calls for transparency.

“Dean Heller’s hypocrisy knows no bounds,” said American Bridge spokesperson Joshua Karp. “Heller is still trying to ‘get to a yes’ on Trumpcare, after telling Nevadans he didn’t support it. He’s also negotiating in secret, after explicitly and repeatedly calling for healthcare laws to be crafted in public. This is exactly why Nevadans can’t trust Dean Heller—he says one thing and does another, over and over again.”
