Mike Pence is continuing to act like a 2024 Presidential candidate. Yesterday, as reported by The State, he spoke at a fundraiser for a fringe right wing crisis pregnancy center in the early presidential primary state of South Carolina.
Pence continuously speaks at so-called “crisis pregnancy centers,” which are actually fake clinics that spread blatant disinformation to manipulate women into making medical decisions under false pretenses. According to CNN in 2020, Pence spoke at a center in North Carolina that falsely linked abortion to increased chance of breast cancer and spread other false information to patients seeking care.
Pence is spouting his far right and out of step views in an effort to become relevant again after falling out of favor with Donald Trump – and by extension the GOP. With the Supreme Court preparing to officially overturn Roe v. Wade, Pence and his far right allies are wildly out of step with Americans who by in large support legal abortion by a 70% margin.
The State: Former VP Pence visits SC, says overturning Roe would be a ‘fresh start on life’
By: Joseph Bustos | May 5, 2022
Key Points:
- “While touting his anti-abortion credentials, former Vice President Mike Pence said the country could see a ‘fresh start’ if the Supreme Court follows through on a leaked draft opinion and overturns Roe v. Wade.”
- “The right for people to make their own health care decisions — a right secured and reaffirmed for the last 50 years — is almost gone for millions of Americans,’ said Grace Hagerty, a spokeswoman for American Bridge 21st Century. ‘But that isn’t stopping Mike Pence, a far-right extremist daydreaming he might be the next president, from speaking at a fringe organization that spreads lies about reproductive health care.’”
