It’s been ten days since Vanity Fair published Eliza Cooney’s allegation that she was sexually harassed and assaulted by RFK Jr. when she was 23 and working for him as a part-time babysitter.
In response, RFK Jr didn’t deny the allegations, but instead said, “I am not a church boy” and referenced having a rambunctious youth. The alleged incident would have occurred when RFK Jr. was in his mid-forties.
When asked by the Boston Globe if other women may come forward with similar allegations, RFK Jr. shockingly said, “I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.”
Today, reporting by the Washington Post revealed more disturbing and creepy details about RFK Jr.’s approach to the allegations.
According to the report, RFK Jr. privately texted Cooney claiming to have “no memory” of the incident, but still apologizing for doing anything that hurt her feelings. In the same series of messages, RFK Jr. requested to speak with Cooney face to face.
When asked by the Washington Post to elaborate on his texts he said, “The text message speaks for itself.”
For Cooney, the text was “disingenuous and arrogant” and she was disturbed by the suggestion they meet in person. “What woman wants to do that?” she said. She was also disturbed that he had somehow gotten her number — which he had not previously had access to.
“We know that RFK Jr. wants to be like Trump and help spoil the election in the fall, but we thought it was on the issues and not his predatory sexual behaviors,” said American Bridge 21st Century Communications Director of Presidential Campaigns, Brandon Weathersby. “The allegations against RFK Jr. were shocking and horrifying, but his response in the days that followed have been downright disturbing. He’s shown that he doesn’t take sexual harassment or sexual assault seriously, and he’ll go to great lengths to try to silence an accuser. This man has no business running for president.”
