Following a Bizarre CBS News Interview, It’s Clear RFK JR. is Only in it for Himself

Jul 29, 2024

We’re still scratching our heads trying to figure out why RFK Jr. is still running for president. He’s spent most of July canceling previously scheduled events and media interviews. Fundraising for his presidential bid would be non-existent without cash infusions from his billionaire running mate. RFK Jr.’s polling numbers continue to drop, and he’s on pace to miss criteria thresholds for the next presidential debate hosted by ABC News on Sept. 10.

Last week, things didn’t improve for the Kennedy campaign. News reports exposed a secret scheme by the vaccine conspiracy theorist to end his presidential campaign in exchange for overseeing the Department of Health and Human Services as its next secretary in a future Trump administration. Just days later, RFK Jr. would praise Donald Trump at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference and say the convicted criminal was “highly likely to be our next president.

RFK Jr. rounded out the week with a bizarre interview with Major Garrett from CBS News in which he refused to be truthful about his secret conversations with Donald Trumplied about not being anti-vaccination despite years of profiting from harmful and untrue vaccine conspiracy theories, and doubled-down on not ruling out that America was responsible for 9/11.

In the same interview, Garrett spoke to RFK Jr. about Eliza Cooney, who accused the 70-year-old candidate of sexually harassing and assaulting her when she was 23 years old. RFK Jr. did not deny he sexually harassed or assaulted Cooney and suggested there may be other women with similar stories due to him living “a very rambunctious life.

“RFK Jr. isn’t in this race to win it, he’s in it for himself. If it means spoiling the election for Trump to get a high perch in the federal government to spread his dangerous vaccine conspiracy theories, he’ll do it. If it means draining the bank account of his ultra-rich running mate to stay in the spotlight and feed his ego, he’ll do it. If that means retraumatizing his accusers by trying to charm them into silence and protect his image then he’ll do that, too,” said American Bridge 21st Century Communications Director of Presidential Campaigns, Brandon Weathersby. “If Donald Trump hadn’t lowered the bar to hell for qualifications to be president, RFK Jr.’s recent actions would disqualify him from continuing his run. With no path to victory, and no signs that his fortunes will reverse at any point in the next three months, RFK Jr. only serves to spoil the election in the fall and hand over the future of our democracy to someone who says he will be a dictator on day one. It is time for him to show the selflessness that became a hallmark of the Kennedy family and end his campaign for president immediately.”
