- Only 36 House Republicans and two Senate Republicans are holding town halls this recess, “as protests continue this year over repealing Obamacare and other aspects of President Donald Trump’s agenda.”
- So far this year, “Senate Republicans’ public events have totaled 63, compared to 155 for Senate Democrats.”
- “The GOP has borne the most brutal constituent engagement at town halls so far this year, as voters trained fear and frustration on Republicans from Colorado to Arkansas.”
- “Activists say the public’s interest in more direct engagement with lawmakers is growing, particularly as the Republican push to repeal Obamacare teeters in the Senate.”
