MAGA extremist and Republican Senate candidate Hung Cao will face Democratic incumbent Tim Kaine in the general election this November. Throughout his campaign, Cao has generated significant controversy with a series of gaffes and missteps that could pose challenges in winning over Virginia voters. His positions on abortion and health care have been deemed too extreme, while his recent remarks disparaging a rural town paper and suggesting a decline of Christianity due to witchcraft have raised eyebrows and drawn criticism.
“Already, Hung Cao has managed to alienate the vast majority of Virginians with his outlandish views on abortion and health care, coupled with baseless conspiracy theories and demeaning insults aimed at rural Virginia. His campaign, riddled with gaffes and missteps, sets the stage for a challenging general election for Republicans. Virginians are poised to overwhelmingly reject him come November,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado
Hung Cao’s toxic track record of gaffes and out-of-touch, dangerous positions:
- Cao set up a scam PAC where he pledged to support Republican candidates running in Virginia, but he ended up supporting himself
- Cao opposes abortion and compared it to the Holocaust.
- Cao claims witchcraft is happening in California.
- Cao is a 2020 election denier and pledged to release January 6 insurrectionists from prison.
- Cao baselessly blamed the Baltimore bridge tragedy on racial equity.
- Cao insulted rural Virginians by calling a rural paper “podunk” and doubled down on it.
- Cao said health care wasn’t important and wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
- Cao is a climate denier, calling climate change a “boogeyman.”
- Cao opposed the bipartisan infrastructure bill, which has brought over $8 billion in investment to Virginia.
